Peace!

PAX
is on the radar
there’s no doubt.
We’re trapped in February.
Let me out!
Saint Valentine
notwithstanding,
this short month’s grown
too demanding.
Icicles growl
like dragon’s teeth,
the snow-shovel’s mangled,
there’s no relief
from east to west
and north and south.
You heard it from
Cantore’s mouth:
Winter’s Won!
That’s our gestalt.
I’d lick my wounds
but there’s no salt—
we’re sandbagged.
Watch icy asphalt
and clear your steps!
It’s no one’s fault.
Snow happens.
Mr. Groundhog,
that’s not quite true.
I’d like to have
a word with you.
